The event will welcome 30,000 attendees to a six-stage, industry-wide conference agenda spanning global and emerging markets , payments , affiliation , player protection , and new hands-on 'Operator Academy' workshops. Familiar to last year’s attendees and bigger than ever, the Super Stage will also return to the MEO Arena to spotlight headline sessions from the industry's biggest names; including movers and shakers from emerging markets like Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe; C-level executives dissecting the Brazilian boom; and European, US, and LATAM leaders rethinking regulation, innovation, and customer engagement. Alongside these powerhouse panels, global thought leaders from beyond the sector will deliver exclusive keynotes offering powerful out-of-industry perspectives. Marketing mogul and serial entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk is already confirmed for this year’s programme, following last year’s edition, which welcomed icons such as Tony Hawk, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Merab Dvalishvili, and Laura Woods. Discussing SBC Summit’s upcoming agenda, Rasmus Sojmark , CEO & Founder of SBC, said: “ SBC has always taken pride in delivering educational experiences that tackle the topics and challenges that matter most to our delegates . One of the major highlights of the 2025 edition is that we’ve reshuffled and expanded the agenda to place every major and emerging market firmly in the spotlight. Adding a truly global dimension to the educational programme, SBC Summit will feature two dedicated conference tracks — 'Global Markets' and 'Emerging Markets' — running across all three days. Delegates can attend the Emerging Markets track to gain insights into Africa (Tuesday), Eurasia and the Middle East (Wednesday), and Asia (Thursday). Meanwhile, the Global Markets track will cover key regions such as Latin America and Brazil (Tuesday), Western Europe (Wednesday), and North America (Thursday). Among the countries featured across both tracks are Georgia , Uzbekistan , the UAE , Mexico , Colombia , Italy , the UK , the US , and many more. "Last year, we brought together attendees from 134 countries. This year, we’re going even bigger — with a laser focus on making sure every part of this industry is seen, heard, and represented. Conference stages are often seen as just that. Stages. But these stages are far more than lecture halls. They are  complete with a dedicated networking lounge positioned right beside them, transforming the learning experience into a fully interactive platform." Sojmark added. Technology will also take center stage at SBC Summit, with a dedicated conference track exploring its critical role across the industry. Sessions will examine innovation through three key lenses: transformative technologies driving change, advancements in payments technology, and cutting-edge compliance solutions. Delegates will dive into a wide range of topics, from payment innovations in emerging markets and subscription-based casino models to fraud prevention tools and enhancements in UX and UI for sportsbook platforms. "Tech isn't just a topic anymore — it's the foundation of every major discussion happening across the industry. That’s why this year, SBC Summit will feature a dedicated technology stage, while also weaving tech innovation into tracks like Affiliate Leaders and Player Protection to reflect the reality of where the industry is headed," Sojmark said. The ' Affiliate Leaders ' track will take delegates on a focused journey through the key pillars of modern affiliation, starting with martech innovations on Tuesday, shifting to audience engagement strategies on Wednesday, and culminating with a forward-looking discussion on the future of the affiliate industry on Thursday. Sessions will explore how affiliates can harness AI to enhance SEO and CRM strategies, the growing influence of affiliate networks, streamers, and influencers, and the importance of localised content. Additional panels will examine the rise of new sports and their impact on affiliate marketing, innovations shaping the sector, and how affiliates can diversify their offerings to increase reach and engagement. Finally, recognising the importance of building a safe and robust gaming ecosystem, SBC Summit will feature a dedicated ‘ Player Protection ’ conference track focused on regulation, research, and safer gambling technologies. The opening day will explore pressing issues such as whether stringent regulations are driving players toward illegal markets and how the industry can reshape public perception. Day two will examine the ethics of advertising, the industry's duty of care, and the impact of grey and black markets on player safety. The final day will spotlight collaborative approaches between operators to enhance player protection, the risks associated with alternative currencies, and the evolution of player monitoring technologies. Finally, the Operator Academy will give operator representatives the opportunity to dive deep into the core disciplines essential for operational excellence. Through a series of dedicated workshops, attendees will explore key areas including trading, marketing, gamification and player engagement, Web 3.0 and crypto, AI and regulation, compliance, and cybersecurity. SBC Summit will take place from 16–18 September at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa and MEO Arena, bringing together 30,000 industry stakeholders for an unmissable three-day experience.  Get your ticket to SBC Summit. • Kangwon Land Triples Betting Limits to Attract High Rollers

Kangwon Land betting limits raised to attract VIP players and boost revenue, as South Korea’s only local-access casino targets high-stakes growth. Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea where locals can legally gamble, has been granted government approval to raise its betting limits. The move is part of a broader effort to attract high-stakes players and strengthen its premium gaming segment. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism approved an increase in the betting cap for two blackjack and two Texas Hold’em poker tables, lifting the maximum from KRW100,000 to KRW300,000  — or roughly ₱4,200 to ₱12,600 . The new blackjack limits took effect on May 21 , with poker table changes set to roll out in early June. Just days earlier, the casino also received clearance to adjust limits on two of its VIP baccarat tables. The minimum bet jumped tenfold , from KRW50,000 (₱2,100)  to KRW500,000 (₱21,000) . Even more striking, the maximum spread between “banker” and “player” bets  surged from KRW2 million (₱84,000)  to KRW30 million (₱1.26 million) . These changes support Kangwon Land’s plan to reposition itself as a destination for high-rolling guests. In line with this, the property earlier this year opened a foreigner-only gaming zone  and unveiled a US$1.9 billion (₱108.3 billion)  expansion, which includes a new luxury hotel, wellness center, and premium pool villas. Despite a slight 0.2% dip in total gaming sales for Q1 2025, which came in at KRW316.8 billion (₱13.3 billion) , Kangwon Land saw growth in its VIP segment during the same period. Revenue from its “membership club” category rose by 4.2% year-on-year , reaching KRW48.7 billion (₱2.05 billion) . This signals strong demand from premium players even as broader revenues stabilize. As competition in Asia's gaming market heats up, Kangwon Land’s updated limits and VIP-focused expansion suggest a sharper focus on maintaining its edge with domestic and international high rollers. • Hong Kong Eyes Legal Basketball Betting to Curb Illegal Wagers

Authorities assess public feedback as illegal basketball betting surges, considering regulatory measures to channel activity through legal avenues. The Hong Kong government has completed a public consultation on the potential legalization of basketball betting, aiming to address the growing issue of illegal wagering on the sport. The consultation period, which ended on May 2, 2025, invited public input on proposed regulatory frameworks. Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Alice Mak, emphasized the government's pragmatic approach: while not encouraging gambling, it acknowledges the persistent demand and seeks to mitigate illegal activities through regulation. Mak noted that without legal avenues, illegal gambling could become more rampant. The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), the city's sole legal betting operator, reported a significant rise in illegal basketball betting. In 2023, an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 individuals engaged in unauthorized basketball wagering, with turnover reaching HK$32 billion to HK$34 billion (approximately US$4.1 billion to US$4.4 billion). By 2024, these figures surged to about 430,000 bettors and HK$70 billion to HK$90 billion (US$9 billion to US$11.5 billion) in turnover. A study by Oxford Economics indicated that nearly half of those participating in illegal basketball betting would consider switching to legal platforms if available. The proposed regulatory framework would mirror existing football betting regulations, granting the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs the authority to license basketball betting operations, likely through the HKJC. Key provisions include prohibiting bets on local games to protect the integrity of domestic sports, banning underage and credit betting, and requiring operators to display responsible gambling messages and provide support resources. Financial Secretary Paul Chan projected that legalizing basketball betting could generate HK$1.5 billion to HK$2 billion (US$190 million to US$257 million) in annual tax revenue, contributing to alleviating the city's fiscal deficit. As authorities review the consultation feedback, the potential legalization of basketball betting represents a strategic move to regulate a burgeoning underground market, safeguard public interests, and bolster government revenues. • Pronet Gaming CEO Alex Leese on B2B-B2C Innovation

Pronet Gaming CEO Alex Leese reveals how combining B2B strategy with B2C insight drives platform innovation and growth in LATAM, Africa, and global markets. In an industry where change is constant and competition fierce, innovation must come from a place of understanding; not only of technology, but of the people using it. Here, Pronet Gaming CEO Alex Leese discusses why he believes that the most effective iGaming platforms are built through a dual lens: one that blends B2B strategy with B2C insight. Having spent over 15 years in executive roles across the gaming sector, I’ve had the privilege of operating on both sides of the industry. From leading the international arm of William Hill, overseeing entries into newly regulated markets in LATAM, to managing B2C portfolios at Offside Gaming and Sportingbet, my path has consistently reinforced one truth: platforms that thrive are those shaped with the player in mind. When I joined Pronet Gaming in 2019, my aim was to extend our commercial reach into high-growth markets like LATAM and Africa; regions rich in opportunity, but highly diverse in regulation, player preference, and technological maturity. This expansion required more than just technical integration; it demanded a nuanced understanding of local player behaviors, informed by real B2C experience. That’s where our edge comes in. Our leadership team is deeply rooted in both the B2B and B2C ecosystems. Our Director of Product Delivery, Rafiq Sheikh, brings over two decades of product strategy expertise from industry heavyweights like Playtech, Entain, and Microgaming. His approach blends technical rigour with a user-centric mindset, ensuring that what we build not only performs but resonates. Whether we're launching a sportsbook tailored to mobile-first users in Kenya or refining our casino offering for Brazil, Rafiq ensures our platform delivery is tightly aligned with our business goals and our partners' end-user needs. This cross-functional fluency isn’t limited to product. Marketing, too, plays a critical role in bridging the B2B-B2C gap. With over ten years of experience in Asia’s entertainment sector, our Head of Marketing, Gina Lama, leads brand strategy and content with the precision of someone who understands what captivates audiences—be it in a packed live arena or across digital channels. Her expertise allows us to shape narratives that speak both to operators and their players, aligning our storytelling with on-the-ground expectations in dynamic regions like Asia. So, what does this dual-lens approach look like in practice? It means designing platforms that go beyond functionality to deliver experience. Our localisation strategy ensures operators have tools to tailor content, odds, and offers to their specific markets. It means offering seamless omnichannel capabilities for players who expect consistency whether they’re betting online, in retail, or on mobile. It’s about integrating intelligent back-office systems that allow operators to react in real-time; not just with risk management tools, but with CRM features that mirror the fluidity of B2C platforms. It also means being proactive in anticipating how consumer expectations evolve. Bettors today want more than odds, they want engagement. They expect dynamic interfaces, personalised experiences, and real-time content. By applying B2C principles to our B2B platform architecture, we ensure that operators can deliver exactly that. Ultimately, innovation isn’t a single act of invention—it’s the outcome of listening, observing, and adapting. At Pronet Gaming, we innovate not just to impress, but to empower: empowering operators with tools that perform, and empowering players with experiences that connect. As we expand further into Asia, our mission remains clear: bring together the best of both worlds. Because the future of iGaming doesn’t lie solely in tech; it lies in the synergy between platform and player, between B2B infrastructure and B2C intuition. That’s the dual lens we bring to every market, every partnership, and every product we build. Read related article: Pronet Gaming sets its sights on ICE Barcelona 2025
