PAGCOR Leadership Resigns Amid Marcos’ Government Shake-Up

PAGCOR Leadership changes as Chairman Alejandro Tengco and the board resign to support major administrative reforms and usher in a new era for the gaming regulator.

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has tendered their courtesy resignations, Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco

In a significant move, the entire leadership of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has tendered their courtesy resignations. Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco, along with President and COO Wilma Eisma and board directors Jose Maria Ortega, Francis Democrito Concordia, and Gilbert Cesar Remulla, submitted their resignations to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

This development aligns with President Marcos' recent directive for all officials of government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs) to submit courtesy resignations. The move aims to give the President a free hand in reorganizing the bureaucracy to better serve the public.

Chairman Tengco stated, "We all serve at the pleasure of the President," emphasizing their willingness to support the administration's efforts to recalibrate its team following the May 2025 midterm elections.

PAGCOR, a major contributor to the national treasury, reported a net income of ₱16.76 billion in 2024, a 146% increase from the previous year. The agency also remitted ₱12.67 billion in dividends to the Treasury, representing 75% of its net income for 2024.

The resignations are part of a broader initiative by President Marcos to assess and potentially restructure leadership within GOCCs, ensuring that the administration remains dynamic and responsive to the evolving expectations of the Filipino people.

As the gaming industry continues to be a significant economic driver, the forthcoming appointments to PAGCOR's leadership will be closely watched by stakeholders and observers alike.
