Kaban Hotel and Casino Set to Open in Boracay, Expanding Philippines’ Casino Footprint

Kaban Hotel and Casino Boracay is set to welcome guests on September 16, introducing the island’s first hotel casino destination as gaming operators increasingly look beyond the saturated Metro Manila market.
Kaban Hotel and Casino Opens in Boracay
Boracay is preparing for a significant addition to its tourism and entertainment offering with the opening of Kaban Hotel and Casino Boracay on September 16.
The property, developed by Golden TW Realty and Development Corporation, is positioned at Station 0 in Barangay Yapak and combines hotel accommodation, casino gaming, dining and entertainment in a single destination. Manila Bulletin reported that the opening will mark Boracay’s first integrated hotel casino development.
Kaban’s own website describes the property as an 88:key design hotel located at Station 0, with gaming and hospitality forming the core of its proposition. The operator is already promoting the September 16 launch across its hotel, dining and gaming offerings.
The opening gives Boracay a new gaming component at a time when the Philippine casino industry is continuing to diversify geographically. While the country’s largest integrated resorts remain concentrated around major urban and tourism hubs, operators have increasingly identified opportunities outside Metro Manila.
Golden TW positions Kaban around Station 0
Kaban forms part of a broader development push around Boracay’s newly established Station 0 district.
Golden TW said in May that Station 0 was emerging as a new tourism and lifestyle area on the island’s northern end, with Kaban among the developments expected to support the district’s expansion. The company described Kaban as the first hotel casino planned for the area and said Boracay Central, another Golden TW development, is expected to follow with an opening later in 2026.
The development strategy is notable because it places gaming alongside hospitality, dining and retail rather than treating the casino as a standalone attraction.
Kaban’s 88:room hotel is complemented by dining and entertainment facilities, including Lamii, its all day dining restaurant, and a sports bar. The property is also promoting KABAN Star Rewards, providing a loyalty proposition spanning its hospitality and gaming offering.
This model reflects the broader evolution of casino development in the Philippines, where integrated destinations increasingly seek to combine gaming with non:gaming attractions and accommodation.
Casino expansion moves beyond Metro Manila
Kaban’s arrival also illustrates the industry's growing interest in destinations outside the capital.
In 2024, Alliance Global Group President and CEO Kevin Tan said the group saw greater growth potential outside Metro Manila, where casino competition had become increasingly intense. At the time, Tan identified Boracay as a location for a more boutique scale casino development and said the project was intended to fit the local market rather than replicate the scale of Manila’s major integrated resorts.
Kaban represents a different scale from the Philippines’ largest integrated resorts, but its location gives the project a potentially important role in the country's regional casino landscape.
Rather than relying on a metropolitan gaming market, the property is designed around an established international tourism destination. That creates a business model in which hotel occupancy, tourism traffic, dining, entertainment and casino visitation can reinforce one another.
For the Philippine gaming sector, the development therefore provides another example of how casino operators can pursue growth through destination based properties rather than relying exclusively on large scale urban resorts.
Regulatory alignment remains central to launch
The property's development has also involved engagement with the Philippine gaming regulator.
Kaban's casino team said in September that representatives from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) met with the property ahead of its launch. The meeting focused on operational preparations and regulatory alignment, according to Kaban.
Kaban's official website also prominently displays responsible gaming messaging, including a minimum age of 21 and a reminder to play responsibly.
That regulatory dimension will be particularly relevant as casino gaming becomes integrated into Boracay's wider tourism ecosystem. The island underwent a major government led rehabilitation in 2018, with authorities placing renewed emphasis on sustainable tourism, environmental management and controlled development.
Kaban's positioning within Station 0 consequently places the project within a broader conversation about how new commercial developments can contribute to Boracay's tourism economy while remaining compatible with the island's evolving development framework.
What Kaban means for Boracay's gaming market
The opening of Kaban does not immediately transform Boracay into a casino hub comparable with established gaming destinations such as Manila or Macau. Its significance lies instead in introducing a new type of tourism proposition to the island.
The property has been designed as a relatively compact hospitality and entertainment destination, with 88 rooms and a combination of gaming, restaurants, leisure facilities and entertainment.
Kaban is also being marketed around Station 0 as part of a broader lifestyle destination rather than solely as a casino. Golden TW's development plans for the district suggest that the company sees opportunities to build an interconnected tourism and entertainment cluster around the property.
For casino industry observers, the project will provide an early indication of how a dedicated casino hotel model performs in a resort market dominated historically by beach tourism and leisure travel.
The September 16 opening will therefore be watched not only for its impact on Boracay's hospitality sector, but also for what it could signal about the next stage of Philippine casino expansion: smaller, destination focused properties located outside the country's traditional gaming centers.
