BetMGM reported higher third-quarter revenue for 2026, but the increase has not prompted the online gambling operator to raise its financial expectations for the full year. Revenue reached $710 million for the three months ended September 30, up 7% from $667 million in the same period last year, according to the company's October 13 update.

The results reflect stronger betting activity during the FIFA World Cup and changes to the company's sportsbook ahead of the National Football League season. However, management continues to expect both annual revenue and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) to finish toward the lower end of its existing guidance ranges.

That distinction puts the latest figures in perspective. BetMGM has delivered year-over-year growth, yet its annual targets remain unchanged. The remaining months of 2026 will show whether the momentum recorded during the third quarter is sufficient to meet its financial objectives.

BetMGM Q3 revenue reaches $710 million

The $710 million reported for the third quarter represents an increase of $43 million compared with the same period in 2025. The growth gives BetMGM a stronger quarterly revenue result, although the company has not indicated that the performance warrants a change to its full-year forecast.

Revenue growth is an important measure for an online gambling operator because it reflects the money generated by its business activities after accounting for relevant gaming-related deductions. It does not, by itself, show how much profit the business retains or how much cash it generates.

Those distinctions matter when assessing a company operating across online casino gaming and sports betting. Customer activity can vary according to sporting events, seasonal patterns, product offerings and other factors. Revenue may therefore change from one quarter to another without necessarily indicating a permanent shift in underlying performance.

BetMGM's latest announcement provides evidence of year-over-year expansion, but the annual guidance offers a separate measure against which that progress must be assessed.

World Cup activity supports sports betting

BetMGM identified strong betting during the 2026 FIFA World Cup as one factor behind its third-quarter performance. The international football tournament provided a major sporting event during the reporting period, creating opportunities for wagering activity across participating markets where the company's products were available.

Major competitions can influence sportsbook performance by concentrating customer attention on a particular event or series of matches. However, the financial effect depends on several variables, including betting volumes, the distribution of wagers and the operator's results on those bets.

Higher betting activity does not automatically translate into a proportional increase in revenue. Sportsbook outcomes can fluctuate because customer selections, promotional offers and the results of individual events affect the operator's financial return.

The World Cup should therefore be understood as a reported contributor to the quarter, rather than a guarantee of continued growth. Future performance will depend on whether customer engagement and other business activities remain strong after the tournament.

For BetMGM, the key question is whether event-driven activity can contribute to a broader revenue base that remains resilient throughout different parts of the sporting calendar.

Sportsbook changes form part of the growth strategy

The company also pointed to a revamped sportsbook introduced ahead of the NFL season. Product development can influence how customers interact with an online betting platform, particularly when operators seek to improve the experience of researching markets, placing wagers and following events.

A sportsbook's commercial performance depends on more than the number of available betting markets. Usability, reliability, customer engagement and the effectiveness of promotional activity can all influence how a platform performs.

BetMGM's reported revenue increase suggests that its business benefited from the conditions and activities identified in its quarterly update. The announcement does not, however, quantify the individual contribution made by sportsbook changes.

It would therefore be premature to attribute the entire revenue increase to the revamped platform or to conclude that the changes will produce the same results in subsequent quarters.

The more useful measure will be whether the business can maintain growth beyond a period featuring a major international football tournament and the start of the NFL season. Results across future reporting periods should provide a clearer picture of the durability of the company's product strategy.

BetMGM retains its 2026 revenue and EBITDA guidance

Despite the quarterly increase, BetMGM maintained its full-year financial expectations. The company forecasts net revenue between $2.9 billion and $3.1 billion in 2026, with the result expected toward the lower end of that range.

Its adjusted EBITDA guidance also remains unchanged at $300 million to $350 million, with management again anticipating a result toward the lower end.

The guidance is important because quarterly growth and annual performance measure different things. A stronger third quarter can improve the year-to-date position without necessarily changing the outlook for the entire financial year.

The lower-end expectation also means that readers should not interpret the 7% revenue increase as evidence that BetMGM is preparing to exceed its current forecast. The company has retained its existing ranges rather than announcing a higher target.

For the remainder of the year, investors and industry observers will be able to compare reported results with the company's guidance. That comparison should provide a more complete assessment of performance than focusing on the latest quarterly percentage increase alone.

The distinction between revenue and adjusted EBITDA is equally important. Revenue measures business income, while adjusted EBITDA is a separate performance measure that excludes specified items. Neither figure should be treated as interchangeable with net profit.

Longer-term profitability remains a priority

BetMGM also said it remained confident of reaching $500 million in adjusted EBITDA in the coming years. This is a longer-term objective, distinct from the company's forecast for 2026.

The target signals continued emphasis on profitability, but it should not be read as a promise that the business will achieve that level by a particular date unless the company provides a more specific timetable.

For online gambling operators, sustainable earnings depend on the relationship between revenue, operating expenses, customer acquisition costs, promotional activity and other business requirements. Strong revenue growth can support improved profitability, but the relationship is not automatic.

BetMGM's latest guidance provides a useful benchmark for assessing progress. Its full-year adjusted EBITDA range establishes the company's near-term expectation, while the longer-term objective offers a broader indication of its profitability ambitions.

Subsequent results will help establish whether the operator can make consistent progress toward those goals. Until then, the $500 million figure remains a future objective rather than a confirmed outcome.

What BetMGM's latest results mean for the industry

BetMGM's third-quarter announcement highlights the difference between a positive quarterly result and a stronger full-year outlook. Revenue increased by 7%, and the company identified World Cup betting and sportsbook improvements as contributors. Nevertheless, management left its annual financial guidance unchanged.

For the online gambling sector, the results illustrate why revenue growth needs to be considered alongside profitability expectations. A single quarter can benefit from a concentrated sporting calendar, while the full-year forecast must account for performance across the entire reporting period.

The next reporting update will be important in determining whether the third-quarter gains represent sustained progress. Revenue, adjusted EBITDA and management's assessment of the annual outlook will remain central indicators to watch.

For now, BetMGM has reported a stronger third quarter without changing its financial expectations for 2026. The final quarter will provide further evidence of whether the operator can turn that growth into results consistent with its stated targets.
